“If my son were gay,
I’d slap him
With a nice high five.
Because coming out to your dad,
Takes balls that most men don’t have.
If my son were gay,
I’d beat the hell out of him.
Because he said he was better than me
At Super Smash.
(He basically was asking
For me to kick his ass.)
If my son were gay,
I’d kick him out of the house.
Because why waste June on video games,
When there are sports to be played?
And just because he likes making out with boys,
Doesn’t mean he can’t tackle the shit out of them, too.
If my son were gay,
I’d call him a douche.
But only because this morning,
He ate the last peanut butter cup in the house.
(The jerk knows they’re my favorite.)
If my son were gay,
I’d still give him the talk.
I just wouldn’t have to worry about a baby in nine months.
If my son were gay,
I’d make fun of what he wears.
Because damn, son,
Those heels don’t go with that dress.
If my son were gay,
I’d tell him to be proud.
Because you’re human no matter the gender
On the other side of your mouth.
If my son were gay,
Nothing would be different at all.
Except that twenty years down the line,
I’ll be expecting a handsome son-in-law.” —

House Republicans Push Bill Allowing Soldiers To Harass Gay Comrades -

sugaronastick:

Rep. Todd “Legitimate Rape” Akin got booted out of Congress last month, but he’s not leaving without one last attempt to insert a clause into the Defense Authorization Act that would allow anti-gay members of the military to harass gay soldiers without retribution. Via Chris Johnson at Washington Blade:

Under the language, the U.S. military would have to “accommodate the conscience and sincerely held moral principles and religious beliefs of the members of the Armed Forces concerning the appropriate and inappropriate expression of human sexuality” and may not use these beliefs as the basis of any adverse personnel action or discrimination. Additionally, it would prohibit the U.S. military from taking action against military chaplains who decline to serve a particular service member based on religious beliefs.

Aren’t you glad he lost the election!!

WOAH. House Speaker John Boehner made it clear at his weekly press conference today that he disagrees with President Obama on the issue of gay marriage, and he would not answer the question: Do you feel that gay marriage is a civil rights issue? When asked, Boehner responded:  ”I believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, and the president and the democrats can talk about all this all they want.” He added, “The fact is the American people are focused on our economy, and they’re asking the question: Where are the jobs?”
(Via AP YouTube)

It’s like he’s pointing into our souls.

According to Boehner’s party, the jobs are in our vaginas. Or possibly hiding underneath a welfare queen’s mountain of financial aid and food stamps.
-Jess

He says this while insisting on enforcing DOMA with our taxdollars. So obviously this is worthy of debate. Republicans have been making pithy comments and dodging on this issue for quite a while…because they’d rather legisliate gay people to death and not have to discuss why publicly.

In memory of Jacob Rogers, 18 -

gaywrites:

Jacob Rogers, a high school senior from Tennessee, ended his life yesterday after enduring years of bullying at school.

Friends say classmates tormented him with anti-gay slurs and left behind notes including passwords to online accounts, so friends and investigators could see evidence of the harassment he endured.

Bloggers started a fund to help his family pay for the funeral and very quickly reached their goal amount of $5,000. Extra money will go to the GLSEN, the It Gets Better Project, the Trevor Project and the ACLU.

Please get help if you need it. Look out for your friends. Stand up for strangers. We cannot handle the loss of another innocent life. This community needs you - these kids need you. Prayers go out to Jacob’s family and friends.
